Hello! It’s Monday, 26 of September. Welcome to the Gamerati News Update.

Embrace elemental might with this new Pathfinder Campaign Setting

Planes of Power is the newest campaign setting by Paizo for the Pathfinder RPG. Developed by John Compton and Amanda Hamon Kunz, Planes of Power allows players and GMs to harness these primal powers for themselves by exploring the Elemental Planes — entire realms of existence dedicated to the four elements. This 64-page paperback fully details each of the four Elemental Planes with advice on adventuring in their harsh environs, new character options and creatures, location gazetteers, and an examination of major settlements that offer welcoming landing sites for planar travelers.

The campaign setting ties with Season 8 of Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild, as it’s going to journey to the Elemental Planes, where adventurers can explore these fantastic realms and face the diverse foes that call them home.

The PDF will available from the Paizo webstore this Wednesday for $16 and you can add the print edition for $23. They’ll ship it to you when it’s available on the 11th of October.

Asmodee sets November for release of Monolith’s Conan board game.

Successfully Kickstarted in 2014, the board game simply called Conan designed by Frédéric Henry is a game of pulse-pounding Hyborian adventure for two to five players. Set in the world of Robert E. Howard’s iconic barbarian, the game pits one to four heroes against a nefarious Overlord and his minions. You immerse yourselves in a far-ranging array of scenarios, all boasting healthy doses of swords and sorcery.

With its muscular combat mechanics, its evocative scenarios, the lavish maps upon which they’re played, and the detailed miniatures with which you play them, Conan transforms your adventures into the stuff of legend!

Kickstarter backers will get their copies in October and the retail version starts shipping late November; MSRP is $120. It’s a big box.

Dominion, the game that started it all in the deck-building scene, gets a 2nd edition

New editions of Donald X. Vaccarino’s Dominion and Dominion: Intrigue are being produced by Rio Grande Games and should be on retail shelves within a few weeks. The second editions will replace six card groups and add one new (replacing the blanks) in each set. Additionally, there will be new box cover art, new card art for the base Treasure and Victory cards, clarified card text, and revised rule books. Also, base cards are being dropped from Intrigue, making it an expansion, no longer working standalone.

For those who want to stick with their first edition sets but want access to the new cards, Rio Grande is producing Update Packs with the new Kingdom, Treasure, and Victory cards for $15 each.

Warhammer 40,000 Build + Paint is a new intro line by Games Workshop

Hoping to attract new modelers to the hobby, Games Workshop will launch a new line of introductory-level kits next month called Warhammer 40,000 Build + Paint.

Each kit is packaged in a brightly-colored box and includes two or more plastic model kits from Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 line, plus all of the paint, glue, and decals needed to assemble and paint them. The first series of six kits includes three Space Marine kits and three Ork kits. MSRP varies from $15 for kits with two figurines to $40 for kits with six figurines.

The largest kits in the series, Space Marine Heavy Assault and Space Ork Raiders, will also include a display mat to showcase the models once they are completed. The kits are designed to be easy to assemble and paint, and are suitable for ages 8 and up. Unusual for Games Workshop but keeping in line the idea of bringing more people to the miniatures hobby, Warhammer 40,000 Build + Paint kits will be available in non-Games Workshop brick-and-mortar stores.
