Gaming Special Guest
Raised by mild-mannered parents in the wilds of Oregon, Alex always knew he was different. He had an uncanny knack for rolling dice. He wrote complex rules to govern his games of G.I. Joe. He empathized with those guys from the Revenge of the Nerds movies. Little did he know, he was marked by fate. He was...a natural born geek.
After stumbling his way through adolescence and Beloit College (where he met many game industry personalities as an organizer for the local convention, Dairyland), Alex made his way into video game design. But his heart remained firmly in the realm of analog gaming, and he began work on what would become his magnum opus, Ten Thousand Bullets, in 2001. His work on 10kB led him circuitously to Gencon 2002, where he met and was recruited by future partners Patrick Kapera and Scott Gearin to work on the first edition of the Spycraft Roleplaying Game, by Alderac Entertainment Group.
Over the subsequent 5 years, Alex worked on nearly 2 dozen books for a number of publishers, including AEG, Privateer Press, Fantasy Flight Games, Paradigm Concepts, and Mythic Dreams Studios, and was a core designer of the critically-acclaimed Spycraft 2.0 RPG. In late 2005, Alex, along with Pat and Scott, licensed the Spycraft brand and founded Crafty Games. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Most recently, Alex married a wonderful girl and returned to his ancestral home in the north side of Portland, Oregon. He splits his free time (hah!) between slaving away on Crafty Games products, working on his home, and attempting to paint a ghastly backlog of obscure pewter miniatures.
The following people write games, or produce podcasts, or draw great art. Basically, they make all or part of their income by working in the Game Industry - and they'll be at the Game Day.
