Games Workshop confirms Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower, VIZ and WotC announces The Art of Magic: The Gathering: Kaladesh, Ndemic Creations kickstarts Plague Inc: The Board Game, and Las Vegas casinos are considering eSports betting.

Warhammer Quest is back

Warhammer Quest is a classic dungeon crawl miniatures game by Games Workshop, that’s now back as Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower. This cooperative game for 2–4 players pits you and your friends against evil monster hordes to find the pieces of an ancient amulet, and only then you can fight the sinister master of the tower before he dooms the land.

The game is way more complex than that but I have a limited time to talk about it. If you’re curious, the link to the news in the shownotes has an introductory video. This new iteration of Warhammer Quest looks awesome. The only downside is that it costs $150 but you saw the pictures. There’s a lot of stuff inside that box. Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower hits shelves May 21st.

Feast your eyes in The Art of Magic: The Gathering: Kaladesh

The Art of Magic: The Gathering: Kaladesh is going to be the latest in the series of hardcover art books that Wizards of the Coast releases partnergin with VIZ Media. The two previous books were Zendikar, released last January and Innistrad that’ll hit shelves next July.

The 240-page hardcover details the magical realm of Kaladesh, illustrated by almost one hundred artists and penned by James Wyatt. Although it’s called an art book, you should consider it a lavishly illustrated source book to the plane of Kaladesh. That’s what it really is. James Wyatt can write!

MSRP has not been disclosed but you can find it for pre-order for $40, which is the same price of the other two art books at release. Expect The Art of Magic: The Gathering: Kaladesh  in books stores in January 2017.

Representatives of Nevada’s casino industry met recently at the Gaming Policy Committee and discussed expanding into eSports, as the North-American State doesn’t have laws against eSports gambling.

Nevertheless, there’s the usual red tape to go through and also problems beyond the legal realm. For example, the lack of experts. Regular sports have plenty of experts to calculate odds and monitor games, but eSports is a nascent area of expertise, with few experts. There’s also concerns regarding match-fixing and doping in eSports, problems that recently hit the news.

Las Vegas is already home to several eSports tournaments, so I think it’s only a question of time and another step towards eSports being more and more mainstream. I mean, what’s more mainstream than doping scandals and betting?
