Mantic prepares retail kits to showcase Deadzone

A couple of weeks ago I talked about the new skirmish miniature game by Mantic called Deadzone or, as I called it then…

Last week the company from Nottingham announced they’re preparing Deadzone Demo Game Kits so retailers can showcase quick, simplified matches of Deadzone to interested clients before they buy. Each kit will include game mats to use as battlefields, an instruction sheet, a dice set, counters, and miniatures for Enforcers and Steel Warriors, and ruins to populate the battlefield mat — not pre-assembled.

The set will also come with aa A2-side poster so retailers can promote the presence of the kits. Suggested retail price is £10 or about $15.

Catalyst Game Labs has announced a slate of releases for Shadowrun

Coming soon for Shadowrun: Seattle Box Set, Street Legends, Encounters, and Identity: Crisis. Shadowrun: Seattle Box Set is a detailed treatment for the core setting of the game, with geographic descriptions, plot hooks, a large collection of player cards, a modular map system capable of generating buildings in moments, and more.

Street Legends is the second character expansion pack for Shadowrun: Crossfire and include expansion stickers, five street legend cards, and 20 standard character cards with new art.

Encounters: Shadowrun — yes, the name is flipped that way — is a fast-paced, push-your-luck dice and card game for anything from one up to eight players. You play as a powerful person who hires and sends shadowrunners into the streets to get things done before your rivals.

Last but not least, Shadowrun: Identity Crisis is the newest paperback novel set in the Shadowrun world, written by Phaedra Weldon. You follow Oliver Martin as he has to ally himself with a shadowrun team in order to reclaim his identity, completely wiped out from the Matrix.

Why? You’ll have to read the book to know, of course. There are no release dates for those products yet. To find out the MSRPs, just follow the news link in the shownotes.

Mutant Chronicles gets Dark Legion source book

Modiphius Entertainment has announced a new sourcebook for the 3rd edition of the RPG Mutant Chronicles. It’s called Dark Legion and it is a continuation of the plot that began within the Dark Symmetry sourcebook, although it can easily be adapted as a stand alone adventure in this terrifying solar-system spanning campaign.

Events once again transpire on the planet Nero where it begins a race against time in search of the remnants of war, an interplanetary dash to recover ancient technology that can prevent the forces of the Dark Legion from gaining an edge during their second coming.

Dark Legion is a full color 196-page softcover book or PDF available from Modiphius or DriveThruRPG. It is recommended for experienced players, so no n00bs in this campaign.

Sega says more than 350 thousand Mega Drive games have been sold on Steam

Ever since they were available on April 28 on Valve’s digital store, over 350 thousand Mega Drive (or Genesis for you weirdos in North-America) games have been purchased, according to James Schall, director of digital distribution for Sega Europe.

Steam features a Sega Mega Drive and Genesis Hub, where more than fifty ROMS for various classic games can be bought, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Decap Attack, Golden Axe, ESWAT and a lot more.

For games that are over 20 years old, that’s quite an achievement. I, for one, have played a couple and I gotta say they have really aged well.
