Hello, guys, Marcelo here. It’s the 07th of January, 2017. Let’s review the top 5 game news of the week here on Gamerati News Update.

There’s gonna be a Pathfinder expansion for Kingdom Death: Monster

The Pathfinder iconic heroes Merisiel, Valeros, Kyra, and Seoni can be added to the world of Kingdom Death through a Kickstarter exclusive add-on.

Kingdom Death: Monster is currently the most-successful-ever game in Kickstarter history, amassing more than $10 million dollars in pledges from over 17 thousand backers. Kingdom Death: Monster is an massive cooperative board game about survival in a nightmare world. The highly detailed miniatures are one of the strong selling points, which means the Pathfinder miniatures will also be exquisitely crafted. According to Erik Mona, head publisher at Paizo Publishing, “Kingdom Death figures are a little larger than standard Pathfinder figures, which allows for greater detail and more room to add your own awesome paint job, but not so large that they don’t fit on a standard 5-foot-grid.”

If you want to nab this add-on, rightfully called Pathfinders of Death Crossover Expansion, you have only a few hours from the release of this video. The KS for Kingdom Death: Monster ends at 3 PM Eastern. Link in the description below.

Asmodée adds three more companies to its portfolio

The French publisher is going after Fantasy Flight European partners this time. They have merged with the German studio Heidelberger Spieleverlag, the French-Spanish publisher EDGE Entertainment, and the Spanish distributor Millennium.

Nothing’s gonna change in the operations of the German studio for the time being. Heidelberger Spieleverlag (a name I’m sure I’m butchering), will continue operations in the town of Walldürn and keep localizations of Fantasy Flight games in Germany. The merger will secure Asmodée foothold in the robust German market, since Heidelberger has a historic link with hobby shops in that country.

As for EDGE, they’re also long-time partners of Fantasy Flight in Spain and France, and will continue normal operations and development of games. The strategy behind the merger with Millennium is the same as with Heidelberger: getting into the Spanish market with a company with deep roots in the hobby there.

Quick reminder: Asmodée US merged with Days of Wonder and Fantasy Flight in November 2014, got the Catan brand from Mayfair Games in 2015 and, in July 2016, acquired F2Z Entertainment, who controls the Z-Man Games, Plaid Hat Games, and Filosophia.

Have you ever heard of “quantum logic”? Me neither, but Red Bull has.

Red Bull TV is sponsoring an escape room tournament this year. It’s called Escape Room World Championship and it’s based on rules designed by Dr. Scott Nicholson, whom ou might know from Board Games With Scott, the first board game review series on YouTube, which ran from 2005 to 2010.

Scott Nicholson is currently a Professor of Game Design and Development at Wilfrid Laurier University in Brantford, Ontario. He has written research papers on escape rooms, meaningful gamification, games in libraries, online education, and data mining.

The Escape Room World Championship will happen in March 25th in Budapest, where a score of international teams will compete. It’ll be broadcast live at

Everything old is new again for D&D in 2017

Not really, but I love it when Wizards of the Coast reach down into the vault, dusts off an old classic module and revamps it to the current gaming audience. That’s exactly what they’re doing with the anthology Tales from the Yawning Portal . Nothing short of seven old-timey modules are being restructured for the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons. They are: Against the Giants, Dead in Thay, Forge of Fury, Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan, The Sunless Citadel, Tomb of Horrors, and White Plume Mountain.

Some of those modules have already been rehashed for D&D 3rd edition and some others for the 4th edition. This is then an opportunity for you to play them again or for the first time. The 248-page hardcover will hit shelves on the 4th of April, with an MSRP of $50.

Let’s wrap this up with some video game gossip: IMDb might’ve leaked the plot of the upcoming Playstation 4 exclusive Spider-Man game.

The Internet Movie Database has done it again. Somebody posted a synopsis of the upcoming PS4 Spider-Man game. The blurb, quickly taken down, read: “Spider-man must fight the terrifying foe Green Goblin as he contends with his usual life of being a married man with a daughter. But when the Goblin hatches a sinister plan, can Spidey save his family and himself?

If you read Spider-Man or even Marvel comics in general, you probably know that for years Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson were happily married, but then the House of Ideas decided to reboot the character and he’s single 2007. The reference to a daughter is also something likely taken from many alternate universe stories in which Peter and MJ have offspring who eventually dons the cowl of Spider-Girl.

The simply titled Spider-Man game is likely to hit the PS4 late fall.
