Welcome to the Gamerati News Update and welcome to August. I’m Marcelo and here are four news about gaming picked up from last week.

Asmodee rolls out an updated edition of Citadels

Bruno Faidutti’s Citadels was first published in 2000 and went on to win and be nominated by several awards throughout the years. In this card game, players take on new roles each round to represent characters they hire in order to help them acquire gold and erect buildings.

Now Asmodee is preparing a new edition with updated artwork through Windrider Games, revised and expanded by the original designer and the Windrider team. Adding to the original eight characters, this new version will include the ten characters introduced in the 2004 expansion Dark City plus nine new ones.

The rules are also being tweaked and modes of play will be expanded — something I think is necessary now that Citadels have 27 characters. The new game will come out by the end of the year, MSRP $30 but you can playtest it with Bruno Faidutti at GenCon this week.

Fantasy Flight Games is preparing a new edition of The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen

The hilarious storytelling game designed by James Wallis and originally published by his company, Hogshead Publishing in 1998, will get the reprint it deserves from Fantasy Flight Games. The RPG is highly story-focused and is based on the 18th century fictional character known for his impossible and ludicrous exploits.

New edition will have the expected deluxe FFG treatment and will expand the original text with new modes of play to include an easier version for kids, a version in which the players’ ludicrous adventures take place in the same world as the seven voyages of Sinbad the Sailor, and a third one in which you recount how you survived and defeated Things Man Was Not Meant to Know.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen by Fantasy Flight Games comes out at the end of the year. No MSRP information as of yet.

Cryptozoic Entertainment will demo five new titles at GenCon this week

If you hit Cryptozoic’s booth at GenCon you might have the chance to playtest Adventure Time Card Wars: Doubles Tournament, which takes the familiar format of Adventure Time Card Wars and doubles up on everything as players compete against one another in teams of two. Or you can playtest Internal Affairs, a code-cracking game in which is your job to ferret out your foes and learn who is ultimately loyal to whom, or Mad Science Foundation, in which you fulfill your wildest fantasies of being a mad scientist collecting insane resources, building impossible inventions, and press big, red buttons in your personal quest for infamy. You can also playtest Poker Assault: a reimaging of poker as a game of combat, or Rick and Morty: Mr. Meeseeks’ Box o’ Fun Dice and Dares Game, an adult dice game based on Rick and Morty’s episode “Meeseeks and Destroy” that asks you to complete Requests using dice and the help of Mr. Meeseeks or perform demeaning Dares.

Winners of Adventure Time Card Wars tournament will be rewarded with exclusive Cartoon Network medals and Mad Science Foundation creator Sharang Biswas will be at Cryptozoic’s booth throughout the convention demoing the game, answering questions, and signing copies.

BioWare is shutting down their official forums

The official BioWare forums will be shut down by the end of the month, in August 26. The decision is out of the company’s desire to focus on social media, so instead of just abandoning the forums without maintenance, they decided to close it down.

The official forums for Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and legacy BioWare titles will be kept in a read-only state until October 25, 2016. After that date, they will be completely taken down. The only forums that’ll keep operational are the ones for Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO and a few private boards reserved for beta feedback.
