Hello! It’s the Thursday of the 14th of December, 2016. Welcome to the Gamerati News Update. Here are four news from tabletop games and gaming.

How about some Werewolf love for the holidays?

Until 26 December, pretty much everything Werewolf from Onyx Path Publishing is 50% off at DriveThruRPG. There are 174 PDFs to choose from, if you always wanted to complete your collection of Werewolf: The Forsaken or tryout a different storyline for you next Werewolf: The Apocalipse campaign.

There something for every Werewolf fan out there. Revised tribebooks, soucebooks, books for the Narrator, Player’s Guides, setting information… it’s a lot. And not strictly lupines: my favorite book, Hengeyokai: Shapeshifters of the East is there for $6.

At the recording of this video you have 11 more days to enjoy the 50% discount on 174 PDFs from both Werewolf: The Apocalipse and The Forsaken from Onyx Path. Just follow this link or type “rage across the holidays sale” on the search box at DriveThruRPG.

Warlord Games will make games based on 2000 AD

2000 AD is a weekly British anthology sci-fi comic book that is one of the most popular ever, having recently reached issue number 2000. For comparison, American books Detective Comics and Action Comics haven’t made it to 1000 issues yet.

Now the Brit miniature and wargame company Warlord Games have secured the rights to create board games and miniature games based on 2000 AD staples such as Judge Dredd, Sláine, Strontium Dog, Dan Dare, Zenith, Rogue Trooper… it’s just too many to count.

The rights have just been acquired, so we don’t know of any games yet, but the magazine celebrates 40 years of publication next year, so I’m sure we’re going to see something pretty soon. Stay tuned.

Martin Wallace is going to shut down Treefrog Games

The prolific designer of Age of Steam, Toledo, A Few Acres of Snow, A Study in Emerald, and many more has announced in his company’s blog that Tree Frog Games will close its doors after the release of A Handful of Stars. He’s moving on to exclusively design games for other publishers, who will handle production and marketing.

“It has been a struggle to keep Treefrog going for the last few years. The games market has become increasingly crowded with new releases and as a small company we have found it difficult to compete. I have decided that it is better for me to focus on my core strength, which is game design, and leave matters of production and marketing to others.  There will be plenty more ‘Martin Wallace’ designs in the future, they will just lack the Treefrog logo.”

A Handful of Stars is to be released in March and it’s now open to pre-orders. It’s a sci-fi mix of deck-building and strategy game in the 4X subgenre of games. After the inicial run of only 2500 copies, the game will be taken care of by Fantasy Flight Games that, so far, didn’t indicate if it will or will not keep printing the game.

Let’s talk more sci-fi, I’m in the mood today. Blue, an adventure for Mindjammer is almost upon us!

There’s been a murder on the fallen world of Blue, a planet of ragtag survivors and curious human colonists researching the remains of a near-transcendent alien civilization. But the culprit is stranger than anyone had imagined; and, as factions maneuver for influence and control, a mystery is uncovered which threatens to change human space forever!

Blue: Adventures in an Alien World is the newest adventure — a mini-campaign, really — in the great Mindjammer RPG by Sarah Newton. Modiphius Entertainment is taking pre-orders for the 84-page full color softcover print version, which gets you the PDF for free, or you can get the PDF-only version. The print + PDF is £18 and the PDF only is £9. You get the PDF immediately and the physical copy ships mid-January. Just follow the link in the description below.
